Books – Ahmed Massad:
The Ministry of Agriculture revealed the truth of rumors that the watermelon and peach crops were contaminated due to pesticide spraying, which sometimes causes poisoning.
Dr. Hind Abd Allah, head of the pesticide residues laboratory at the Ministry of Agriculture, said that sampling operations are carried out periodically as soon as the crop reaches the markets, noting that last year nearly 200 random samples were withdrawn in the markets.
Today, Thursday, the head of the pesticide residues laboratory at the Ministry of Agriculture added to Masrawy that watermelon is 100% safe; Because its peel is strong and is not affected by any pesticide spraying operations, the peach is also safe, but it is one of the sugars that needs proper storage methods.
“Abdullah” explained that there is strict and strict control over agricultural crops and vegetables, stressing that these rumors harm the reputation of Egyptian crops at home and abroad.
She pointed out that the laboratory conducts random campaigns on the markets and withdraws immediate samples to ensure the safety of crops, adding: “The Central Laboratory for the Analysis of Pesticide Residues and Heavy Metals in Food (Q-CAP) has passed the renewal of the international accreditation of ISO 17025/2017 from the Finnish Accreditation Authority FINAS for the th year 26, respectively, using Live Meeting, where the new laboratory and analysis methods were approved by the experts of FINAS from Finland via the online platform.”
