The central government has confirmed that the same type of charger is under consideration for electronic devices in the country. Union Minister of State for Public Supply Ashwani Kumar Choubey informed Binoy Vishwa in the Rajya Sabha that a working committee has been constituted to look into the implementation of uniform chargers. The committee has representatives from the Ministries of Electronics, Environment and Commerce, trade organizations and technology firms. The European Union has made USB Type C chargers mandatory for electronic devices including mobile phones. The European Union has decided to release the guidance by December 28, 2023 and enter into force on December 28, 2024.
