Sambati Responds to Mayor Tarantino’s Issues Surrounding the Supermarket Debate

“PUNCHING INTO THE WIND!

I read a post by the Mayor of Porto Cesareo on the Parking or Eurospin issue in which I am called into question by her, frankly inappropriately. The Mayor, instead of opening a dialogue and discussion with the citizens on an issue so relevant to the future of the country, and therefore engaging in Politics in the highest sense of the term, wastes time arguing with me, attributing to me an importance that I do not have. Dear Mayor, I am very familiar with the urban planning situation of that land and the situation of the municipal coffers, the latter, as you well know, today, certainly more prosperous than I found them when I arrived, therefore it is not to me that you should address, but to your fellow citizens, who have every right to be informed and educated about the situation in all its aspects. Dear Mayor, such a serious issue cannot be resolved with a post on Facebook, but rather through an in-depth discussion in the municipal council. If he has the courage, let him do it (moreover, I understand that the President of the City Council also requested, in writing, the convocation of the municipal assembly), and explain how things are and the reasons for him and his administration, the latter, if I may, today very different from the one wanted by the voters. All this is simply called DEMOCRACY.

Dear Mayor, and I say this with even greater affection, more than a year has passed since our farewell to your administration, on behalf of myself and Dr. Anna Peluso, I ask you to metabolize our “departure” and to leave us alone, truly.

Rather, yes, think about administering, as best you can and believe, our country in these last 11 months. Then we’ll see.

With the same affection as always, despite everything.

PS On the issues mentioned in your post (Porsche, Pontili, etc.), of which, however, I do not understand the connection with the one that concerns us, I would only like to remind you that it was not I who blocked the administrative procedures (it gives me too much importance), but many other bodies and organizations, first and foremost the European Community; I have simply always tried to highlight, as is my custom, what was wrong from a legal/administrative point of view, and it is useless to underline it, I have always been punctually right!

Sincerely, Attorney Eugenio Sambati”
