OpenAI’s board of directors announced on November 17 that it had fired one of the company’s founders, Sam Altman, as CEO and removed him from the board. The reason given for this decision was that Altman “has not been consistently forthcoming in his communications with the board, which has interfered with his ability to carry out his duties.”
Following Altman’s dismissal, Greg Brockman announced his departure from the company. 95% of the company’s employees signed an open letter demanding Altman’s reinstatement, threatening to resign otherwise.
