The Bundesliga player of the season is Nicolas Seiwald. The 22-year-old midfielder from champion Red Bull Salzburg prevailed over Keito Nakamura (LASK) and Alexander Prass (Sturm Graz) in the election carried out among the presidents, managers and coaches of the league. Salzburg’s Philipp Köhn was voted the best goalkeeper, while Sturm’s Christian Ilzer is coach of the season.

As player of the season, Seiwald follows in the footsteps of Jakob Jantscher. The meanwhile 12-time ÖFB national player acted in the current season as an absolute top performer for the “bulls” and booked a significant part in winning the title once more. After three championship titles and 76 Bundesliga games (to date) Seiwald will switch to RB Leipzig in the German Bundesliga in the summer.

Before that, however, he will receive the trophy for the player of the season on Sunday as part of the Salzburg championship celebrations. Köhn is also honored. The Swiss prevailed over Alexander Schlager (LASK) and Niklas Hedl (Rapid) in the election for goalkeeper of the season. The award for “Newcomer of the Year” awarded for the second time goes to Emanuel Emegha from Sturm Graz. The 20-year-old attacker has proven his goal threat with nine goals so far and was able to celebrate both the runner-up and the cup success with Graz.

In his third year with Sturm, Ilzer won the award for coach of the season for the first time, beating Markus Mader (Lustenau) and Peter Pacult (Klagenfurt). Stefan Ebner was voted referee of the season. Thus, for the first time in the tenth year of existence, the award in this category did not go to Harald Lechner.
