This year’s Salzburg Whitsun Festival is showing several works related to the myth of Orpheus, which deal with the singer’s mourning lamentation and his descent into the underworld to save Eurydice. The focus is on the new production of Christoph Willibald Gluck’s “Orfeo ed Euridice” in the rarely performed version by Parma from 1769.
