Salzburg street theater: It’s about the kidneys

The Salzburg street theater is touring the city and state of Salzburg with the comedy “Die Niere”.

What if your spouse needs a kidney but you hesitate to give her one? The Salzburg street theater, directed by Georg Clementi, is this year taking on Stefan Vogel’s polarizing comedy “The Kidney”, which focuses on organ donation and the marriages of two married couples who are friends.

A well-rehearsed ensemble

The ensemble consisting of Anja Clementi, Alex Linse, Karoline Troger and Georg Clementi has been well established for years. Directing and acting at the same time only works in teams “in which you know each other well. If the team works together, then that’s half the battle,” says Georg Clementi, who will play the reluctant husband Arnold. Anja Clementi takes on the role of wife Kathrin, who questions her husband’s love following his insecurity. Clementi denies with a laugh whether her own marriage is an advantage for the creation of the roles. “Fortunately, we have nothing in common with the spouses on stage.” However, it is of course helpful if you know each other well.

Comedy with depth

The comedy is regarding love, death, loyalty, lies and deceit. Nevertheless, there is a lot to laugh regarding, according to Clementi. “When humor has a tragic background, it’s more satisfying because it’s deeper.”

Accompanied by a cappella songs and in a condensed version, the Salzburg street theater is touring through the city and state of Salzburg with “Die Niere” from Thursday, July 13th to Sunday, August 6th. The play celebrates its premiere with free admission on Thursday, July 13, at 5 p.m. on the Stiegl Festwiese.
