Andreas Berktold is the name of the new strong man in Anif. At the Flachgauern is the successor of Markus Huber, who was released on Thursday, is no stranger. The 41-year-old made his mark as assistant coach of Thomas Hofer a successful era, was involved in three championship titles in 2015, 2017 and 2018 – including two in the Westliga. He will take over as head coach on Monday.
“It’s like coming home for me,” says Berktold, who said goodbye on Friday evening with a 1-0 win for the 1b team from Seekirchen, who he coached. Back in the spring he emphasized that he saw himself as a development coach who didn’t want to be permanently dependent on results. Recently, however, he has already announced that he is ready for the next step. “Seekirchen mightn’t offer me any prospects. I didn’t have to think long,” says Berktold now. In Anif he will be with assistant coach Christian Bogosavac and goalie coach Christian Schlosser work together. Also follows with a delay Sylvester Heuberger from Seekirchen.
The two victories in the previous week also help the coaching team – the 3-0 in the cup in Puch and most recently the first league success in Eugendorf (2-0). “This makes everything easier for the players,” says Anif’s new head coach, who doesn’t want to change everything. “We won’t be overzealous, but will set individual priorities in all phases of the game. The plan for the time being is to implement simple things in a compact way.” The first test for Berktold and Co. is the prestige duel once morest Grödig next Saturday. That brings back memories of better days in Anif.
