Salvadoran players ask for the withdrawal of the normalizing commission and support from FIFA

A group of Salvadoran players asked this Friday that the normalizing commission that took the reins of the Football Federation, appointed by the Institute’s Steering Committee

Nacional de los Deportes de El Salvador (INDES), retire and that FIFA help to elaborate new statutes for the entity.

Players from some teams in the First Division and others who play abroad gave a press conference in which they read their demands.

Striker Nelson Bonilla was the spokesman for his teammates, members of the Association of Professional Soccer Players of El Salvador (Asofutproes), and stated that his demands are to “avoid a sanction from FIFA, restore the operation of the Soccer Federation (Fesfut ) and its professional leagues”.

The players request that the mandate of the current 2018-2022 Executive Committee be revoked, chaired by Hugo Carrillo, who is being investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office for fraudulent administration and money laundering.

They ask that a transitional commission be appointed, which “hand in hand” with FIFA, regulates the federated national tournaments of the semester and another special commission to “review a draft of new statutes together with FIFA” to overcome the current situation.

In addition, they request that an extraordinary congress be convened to elect a new Executive Committee, that the normalizing commission that INDES “imposed” through the resolution of an ethics court, be reiterated, and that the transitory commission of FIFA be the one that took control of the Fesfut for decision making.

One of the objectives of the normalizing commission that took the reins of Fesfut on Thursday is “to homologate the statutes” of the entity and “call for elections,” the president of said commission, the Argentine Lucas Juan Labbad, told journalists this Friday.

“Our first objective is: to guarantee the normality of the functions of the federation. Secondly, to work on the homologation of the statutes and that the law is respected, and thirdly, it is to call elections so that the processes continue and the commission withdraws. “Labbad said at a news conference.

The foregoing, despite the fact that, according to the local sports press, within the functions of the commission it is not to homologate status, since they are not empowered to change the soccer structure.

The commission settled in the headquarters of Fesfut, in San Salvador, despite the fact that FIFA described its creation by the governmental INDES as “improper interference” and warned, in a letter released on Wednesday, of the possibility of a suspension of the Fesfut.
