Salvador Pérez had a formidable day at bat on Monday, in what was a doubleheader between the Kansas City Royals and the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field.
Between the two games, which ended in a victory for the crown winners, the Venezuelan catcher went 5-for-7 with a pair of home runs, six RBIs and three runs scored.
The first game of the doubleheader ended 4-3 in favor of Kansas City. There, the Carabobo native was the starting catcher, going 3-3 with a pair of doubles, a single, and stepping on the plate once.
In the second game, Pérez stole the show. In this duel, he was the designated hitter and hit a couple of homers, one of them with the bases loaded to seal the victory for his team 9-4 over Cleveland.

The Venezuelan drove in his first run in the third inning with a ground ball by the shortstop, which served to score his countryman Maikel García. With the game tied at four, “Salvy” hit the ball between left and center field to give Kansas City a 5-4 lead in the fifth inning.
In the following inning he came to the plate with three teammates on base and repeated the dose between center and left fields to extend his team’s lead.
Pérez reached 25 home runs in the 2024 Major League season and also has 94 RBIs, with an average of .282.

The Guardians are leading with 75-57, with only one game advantage over the Royals (74-58), although both are in third and fourth place, respectively, in the general table of the young circuit.
