The moshavim movement in Israel salutes the evacuees of the Otaf and the Lebanese border in a project in which all profits will be donated to the residents of the evacuated moshavims. The “Salute” wine case was created by Itzik Cohen, the owner and winemaker of Ramot Naftali Winery, who since the beginning of the war, he, his family and his friends were evacuated from their homes. Despite the evacuation, Cohen decided to come to the winery in immediate danger in order to produce the wine series – the profits of which will be transferred to the evacuees from the north and south .
The secretary general of the moshavim movement, Amit Yafarah, said regarding the launch of the wine: “We are working day and night to strengthen the moshavim who were evacuated from both the north and the south.” We launched the ‘Salute’ wine from the Ramot Naftali Winery on the northern border line – both to salute the families evacuated from the north and the south and to the soldiers who work night and day to protect us during this time – and to raise awareness of the importance of the wineries’ owners and the rural tourism businesses that these days are standing and hanging on,’ he said . “The wine expresses courage, excellence and Zionist action. We believe that today more than ever, it is appropriate that we honor the people of the evacuees on the border of Lebanon and the Western Negev – and support those who have lost their daily routine.’
Itzik Cohen, the owner of the Ramot Naftali winery told regarding the wine production under fire on the northern border: “The 7.10 caught me at home in Ramot Naftali – near the Lebanese border. All the families in the moshav were evacuated to hotels, but I decided to stay at home in the empty moshav – along with the standby squad and a few farmers who remained. It was important to me to stay and take care of my winery. We, the farmers on the conflict line and in the surrounding area, guard the country’s lands and provide fresh food to the citizens. The security situation does not deter me – and we will not allow Hezbollah to defeat us. I am proud of the moshavim movement for this important project, all the profits of which are a contribution to the moshavim evacuees in the north and south.’
