SEVILLA, 23 (EUROPA PRESS)
The Ministry of Health and Consumption consolidates training in Personalized and Precision Medicine and launches the second edition of its training program, which becomes an Expert Diploma organized jointly with the International University of Andalusia (UNIA), which will be held from January to September 2023 in Granada for 20 professionals from the Andalusian Public Health System (SSPA).
The Andalusian Health Service (SAS) and the Fundación Progreso y Salud also participate in the organization of the course, as part of the Research, Development and Innovation Strategy in Andalusia, through the Iavante line, with the collaboration of the company Janssen pharmaceutical company, as the Board has collected in a statement.
Personalized and Precision Medicine is an emerging approach to disease treatment and prevention that takes into account individual variability in each person’s genes, environment, and lifestyle.
This approach allows clinicians and researchers to establish more precisely which treatment and prevention strategies are most suitable for each patient. It is an approach that contrasts with the traditional one in which only a single criterion was taken into account for all patients and the disease treatment and prevention strategies that were developed did not pay special consideration to the differences between individuals.
This Expert Diploma is oriented towards understanding the techniques and methodologies associated with the concept of Precision Medicine and which involve the experimental understanding of the new clinical genomics platforms and the management and treatment of biological data through biocomputing platforms, which They allow monitoring of the behavior of genes once morest pathologies, as well as increasing knowledge of the methods and technologies associated with new screening methods, which include massive genetic analysis for monitoring patients.
In the words of the Panmep coordinator, Dr. María José Serrano, “this training program, a reference in its field, is aimed at promoting the incorporation and use of Personalized and Precision Medicine in the Public Health System of Andalusia to improve the healthcare provision to Andalusian citizens from a particular perspective”.
The Expert Diploma of 16 European credits will be developed over 400 teaching hours with a blended modality. It will feature master classes by more than 60 teachers of recognized prestige in the field, at the Andalusian and national level, and includes practices in a real environment in the laboratories of the Institute of Biomedicine of Seville (IBiS) and the Center for Genomics and Oncology Research (Genyo) of Granada in which they will train in the new technologies available to carry out molecular and cellular analyzes of different types of cancer.
It is aimed at professionals from the SSPA in Health Sciences and related areas who want to improve their professional skills in this field. The expert is coordinated by professionals with outstanding experience in the field such as Dr. María José Serrano, Dr. Enrique de Álava, Dr. Joaquín Dopazo, Dr. María José Sánchez and Dr. Manuel Romero, and has leading teachers in this field.
The content of this second edition will pay “special attention” to the application of this medical branch to the areas of gynecological cancer and infectious diseases. During the nine months, the professionals will delve into clinical aspects of molecular biology and diagnosis, biomarker research, their specific application to the aforementioned pathologies, and will carry out practical training in technologies such as massive sequencing or biocomputing.
The program also includes content to help clinical decision-making through the management and interpretation of genomic data, the application of artificial intelligence systems for the analysis of this data, and the ethical, legal, and social aspects that health professionals they face in the application of this new medical branch.
