Sales of new light and medium vehicles in the region fell 15.9% in February, compared to the same month in 2023, according to the National Automotive Association (ANAC), which detailed that a total of 339 units were sold. Thus, Ñuble has 21 consecutive months of negative variations in the indicator.
This is the fourth largest contraction in the country, following Aysén (-35.0%), Tarapacá (-20.4%) and the Metropolitan region (-18.8%). The national average, meanwhile, showed a drop of 14.4%, with a total of 22,450 units sold.
From the ANAC they explained that, “the automotive sector continues to be affected by a national economic activity that is just beginning to move towards what its potential growth should be, but with restrictions that still persist in terms of access to financing, greater liquidity and better confidence. of consumers regarding the economic outlook.”
In the first two months of the year, accumulated sales in Ñuble total 691 units, which represents a decrease of 15.0% compared to January-February 2023.
In the analysis by segment, in cumulative terms (January-February 2024), passenger vehicles (sedan, hatchback, coupe) were the only ones that showed an increase in sales (8.3%); On the other hand, trucks fell 33.5%; Commercial vehicles decreased by 19.4% and SUVs recorded a contraction of 12.0%.
