Companies and consumers are buying Israeli and Palestinian flags en masse. The Dokkumer Vlaggen Centrale (DVC) has already sold thousands of these flags last week. Even more popular is the peace flag, which means that municipalities and companies do not have to choose sides.
“Normally only dozens of flags of Israel and Palestine are sold per month, but last week it was already thousands,” says a spokesperson for the DVC. According to her, the flags are equally popular. “Many flags are also sent to consumers, which you then see at demonstrations.”
The flag manufacturer has significantly increased production of the two flags. “The increase in sales lasts a lot longer than with other flags that are temporarily more popular,” says the spokesperson. “That is actually the same as with the Ukrainian flag. It is no longer sold much.”
The peace flag has grown even faster in popularity at DVC. According to the spokesperson, municipalities and companies in particular buy the blue flag with a white dove. “This allows them to express a different voice and not have to choose sides.”
