Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi inaugurates “Asian” fencing in Korea

Engineer Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the “Asian, Emirati and Arab” Fencing Federations, inaugurated the Asian General Fencing Championships at the Olympic Hall in the South Korean capital, Seoul.
The inauguration was attended by Shin Wan Cho, head of the Korean Game Association, a crowd of sports officials in his country and heads of participating missions, and witnessed interesting folkloric performances that expressed the heritage of the host country and the Korean people’s passion for sports, which they consider to be a component of their culture.
More than 300 male and female players representing 25 Asian countries will participate in the tournament, which will last until June 15.
In his opening speech, Eng. Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi thanked South Korea for hosting the tournament and stressed that the AFC is witnessing an unprecedented boom in holding its championships, bypassing all the challenges that the world has witnessed recently, after it was able to successfully organize the youth and junior championship in Uzbekistan last March and before it organize tests Asian international referees in Dubai end of last February.
He explained that this confirms the desire of the Asian fencing family to move forward in developing the game and that Asian fencing, with its capabilities and global champions, always confirms its prestigious position globally and that the future will witness more achievements and successes.
Sheikh Salem Al Qasimi thanked the Asian federations that were keen to participate in the championship, which was the culmination of a busy sports season, wishing everyone success.
Our national fencing team is participating in the tournament with a delegation of 15 players, including Khalifa Al Abri and Hamed Al Mazmi (Salaat Al Saber men), Al Anoud Al Saadi, Sheikha Al Zaabi, Zainab Al Hosani and Fajr Al Marzouki (Silwat Al Ebih girls), Abdullah Al Hammadi, Khalifa Al Zarouni and Muhammad Al Mazmi ( Sileh Al Zarouni, Men). Hamad Al-Jallaf, Shehab Al-Jaabi, Abdul Rahman Al-Hosani and Khal Al-Marzouki (Salaam Al-Floriya are men), Noura Al-Buraiki and Al-Hayam Al-Balushi (Salaam Al-Floriya are girls).
