Wage negotiations this fall promise to be lively. The unions are demanding significant increases to compensate for inflation, which remains high and affects purchasing power. Companies, still weakened by the pandemic, do not have the means to grant general increases, responds employers.
Switzerland is one of the richest countries in the world. But many employees and retirees have not really felt it in recent years. On the contrary: once the rent and health premiums have been paid, they sometimes even have less money left than in the past. Rising inflation and the announced shock to health insurance premiums will only aggravate the situation.
