Salary increases of 5% per year until 2027

Enterprise agreements that determine the wages and other issues of workers remain dominant in the labor market, as 138 enterprise agreements have been filed with the Ministry of Labor in the first half of 2024 when for the whole of 2023 209 enterprise agreements were signed.

On average the increases are running at 4% to 5% reflecting an average general salary increase at these levels for the next two to three years. The recent Monetary Policy report of the Bank of Greece speaks of salary increases of around 5%, a prediction that is confirmed by the content of the business contracts.

In the sectoral contracts in the first half of the year, only 8 agreements were signed and another 10 homo-occupational collective agreements (in tourism-catering, tourist offices, ship-repair zone, television stations, etc.), which are less than the operational ones, although they show an increasing trend, as are more compared to 2023, when 6 sectoral and 7 homo-occupational collective agreements were signed.

The wage increases provided for in many of the operating contracts as well as the conditions for additional benefits, allowances, etc. they have nothing to envy the corresponding branch contracts of the past.

In many businesses, the minimum wages are well above the 830 euro minimum wage.

In some cases, such as at the Bank of Greece, wage increases are agreed even over a period of four years, i.e. from 2024 to 2027.

The facts that come to light from the investigation of “ET” of Sunday in some of the operational contracts of the first half of 2024 that have been filed with the Ministry of Labor are revealing:

1 In OPAP a one-year operational contract was signed for the period 2024-2025 and provides for a basic salary well above the minimum wage of 830 euros and specifically with a minimum wage of 1,020 euros. To this salary are added the time allowances, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50% with 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 years of service, as well as the marriage allowance 10%, as well as the children’s allowance 5%. The three-year increase will also be calculated on top of these salaries.

2 At Frapoprt, which manages the regional airports and “El. Venizelos”, a one-year business contract was signed from 1/1/2024 with an 11% increase on the current statutory salary, plus an extra allowance of 250 euros per month for three children, multiple children and a horizontal allowance of 60 euros per month for all staff. The contract also provides for an allowance of 1,000 euros per year for childcare and compensation due to retirement at 60% (instead of the 40% provided by law) of the severance pay that the employee would be entitled to.

3 In the company Gefyra S.A. (Rio-Antirrio) an operational contract was signed with salary increases of 1,018 for collectors, 989 euros for customer service staff, 1,048 euros for traffic safety officers and 2,153 euros for supervisors. To the above fees are added marriage allowances (10%), three-year allowances and service allowances, depending on the employees’ specialty.

4 At National Insurance a three-year contract was signed, with salary increases of 2.5% in 2024, 1.5% in 2025 and 1.5% in 2026. The basic salary for the main staff is 1,082 euros for 2024, 1,099 euros in 2025 and at 1,115 euros for 2026. For auxiliary staff, the basic salary is for 2024 at 1,038 euros, for 2025 at 1,054 euros and for 2026 at 1,070 euros. At the same time, a multi-year allowance is paid (1.75%), spouse 10%, children (5%-15% for 1 to 4 children), studies (25% for HEIs and 16% for TEIs), doctoral studies (5%) and postgraduates studies (10%).

5 At the food company “Barba Stathis” an operational contract was signed that provides, among other things, a 6% increase, with the basic salary starting at 900 euros and an additional increase due to three years, as well as a lump sum for overtime, Sunday work and night compensation for the years 2024 and 2025.

6 At PPC signed a three-year operating agreement with salary increases of 5.2% for 2024, 4.1% for 2025 and 3.9% for 2026. The increases are calculated on the amount of the 12th step.

7 In ELTA under consolidation an operational contract was signed with an arbitration decision that foresees a salary increase of 3.1% for 2024 and 3.2% for 2025, with the minimum salary set at 1,000 euros for this year.

8 At the Bank of Greece a 4-year business contract was signed! The increases foreseen in the salaries of its employees for the years 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027 will be 4.14% for each year, based on the salary of the previous month before the end of each contract.

9 At the Athenian Brewery company a one-year operational contract was signed for 2024, which foresees a horizontal increase of 4.7% for all employees, with the basic salary starting at 1,100 euros. In addition, marriage allowances of 10%, screen 20 euros are provided, which are part of the salaries, while after 10 years of service in the company, employees receive a multi-year allowance of 20.37 euros per month. For night work the pay is increased by 55% and for Sundays-holidays up to 200%, while for work on Christmas and Easter holidays the daily wage is paid with an increase of 220%. The operational contract provides for a bonus of one and a half salary as an incentive to achieve targets.

10 In the Association of Mastic Producers of Chios an operational contract was signed for 2024 with 2% increases for its staff and a minimum wage of 910.87 euros (above the 830 euros of the statutory wage). The basic daily wage increases to 36.43 euros. For university graduates the basic salary is set at 1,214.49 euros, for TEI graduates at 1,048.88 euros, while for executives from 1,600 euros and above. Child, position and seniority benefits are paid, as well as a productivity bonus of 120 euros per month for low-wage earners, 160 euros for TEI graduates and 200 euros per month for HEI graduates.

Motor Oil: At €983 the main one

11 At Motor Oil signed a one-year operational contract (April 2024-April 2025). The basic salary is 983 euros and depending on the specialty, the basic salaries are up to 1,538.61 euros for labor staff, up to 2,434 euros for administrative staff and up to 2,724 euros for technical staff. Marriage allowances of 10% of the salary of technician B are foreseen, which according to the contract amounts to 157 euros per month, as well as a seniority allowance of 7% for the first three years at the Refinery and 5% for each subsequent three years and up to 10 three-year terms, which means that with 33 years a 57% seniority salary increase is paid. Motor Oil’s contract provides for additional retirement benefits, additional hospital coverage, etc.
