In her statement Ms. Sakellaropoulou referred to those affected by the fires, thanks those who contributed to extinguishing them and expressed the wish for the restoration of the damages as soon as possible.
The statement of the President of the Republic is as follows: “This year’s celebration of the Assumption of the Virgin, which our people honor and recognize in her person as the patron Mother, was unfortunately overshadowed by the destructive fires in Attica. We think of all those affected by them, we thank the firefighters, volunteers and those who, once again, fought the flames heroically, and we hope that the damage will be repaired as soon as possible.
Protecting the environment is the responsibility of all of us.
