The general consensus is that the New Orleans Saints will make an aggressive push to sign free agent safety Tyrant Mathieu. Sources report that ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
New Orleans is considering re-signing the former All-Pro following failing to draft a safety.
Mathieu played in town at high school before spending his college career at LSU. Last month he visited the Saints.
Following the departures of Marcus Williams and Malcolm Jenkins, the Saints are looking to strengthen their secondary. The team signed Marcus Maye in free agency.
Mathieu has spent the last three seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs helping them win Super Bowl LIV. He also spent time with the Houston Texans and the Arizona Cardinals since joining the league in 2013.
The three-time Pro Bowler had 76 tackles, six pass defenses and three interceptions last season.
