New Orleans is going to have to do without its quarterback for the rest of the year.
The Saints pulled off a valuable victory over the Buccaneers. Yet success is bitter because it comes with a high price.
Shot in the knee, Jameis Winston was dancing in the locker room following the game. The festivities are over because the damage is extensive, and the New Orleans quarterback’s season is over.
According to NFL Media Winston tore his anterior cruciate ligament, and sustained medial-collateral ligament damage. The diagnosis was confirmed by MRI.
Big loss for the Saints who will have to continue without their leader. In seven games played, Winston has thrown for 1,170 yards, 14 touchdowns and 3 interceptions for an excellent 102.8 rating. New Orleans is currently second in the NFC South with a 5-2 record, behind Tampa Bay. The team is ranked sixth in the National Conference.
#Saint QB Jameis Winston does, in fact, have a torn ACL, a source said following the MRI. He’s out for the season. There is also damage to the MCL.
