Inclusive education was in question during the first coffee organized by parents of students from Saint-Jory schools last weekend.
Last Saturday, March 18 in the morning, the FCPE (Federation of Parents’ Councils) of primary schools in Saint-Jory organized a first parents’ café on the theme of inclusive education.
The event was an opportunity for parents to meet, to discuss their concerns and share their experiences in the face of the school difficulties of their atypical children. The association Dys’solutions France 31 (DSF31) was invited to intervene during the event and provided valuable information and support to the families present. This association accompanies families throughout the department and has several offices in Saint-Jory.
Diminished chances
Marjorie Buscato, president of the association and parent expert in supporting children with learning disabilities, such as dyspraxia, dyslexia, dysphasia, ADHD (attention disorder with or without hyperactivity), and children with ASD (autism spectrum disorder), shared his own experiences and provided useful advice to the families present.
A child with learning disabilities, unidentified, without assessment, without rehabilitation has much less chance of succeeding in school and has a greater risk of developing health problems with comorbidities as they grow up. This first coffee made it possible to identify, through numerous questions, the real concerns encountered by the families of these children with learning disabilities.
questions and advice
Advice was given to the families present, in order to learn to differentiate the different types of disabilities, to know how to obtain the different support devices, what course of care is necessary for each disorder and to which therapist to turn to a screening. Extensive information was given on all the different types of school guidance, on the ordinary mi, and Ulis, the Segpa, ect.
