Saint-Jean-Lespinasse. Picking and the Orlando couple honored

The municipality of Saint-Jean-Lespinasse and the Espace Orlando will honor three artists. From April 23 to May 8, the doors of the building located on the church square will be open every followingnoon to present both the works of Georges Cueille and the couple Peter and Denise Orlando.

The first has lived and worked on his painting in Saint-Jean-Lespinasse since 1960. For six years, Georges Cueille held a ceramics workshop in Saint-Céré. Then, he devoted himself to painting, while carrying out UN missions in many countries, to develop local art in Africa or Latin America. In 1992, with his wife Maïa, he created the Groupe des Césarine, a meeting of seven artists, professional painters of their entourage, in order to collectively organize exhibitions in the Lot and Corrèze, until 2002. In the exhibition presented at the Espace Orlando, where all the paintings of Georges Cueille will be on sale, in addition to the landscapes, there will be some non-figurative compositions on the picture rails, as well as flowery subjects.

The latter, Denise and Peter Orlando, died and left to posterity, with the complicity of the municipality, this Espace Orlando, an exhibition space that bears their name, as well as numerous paintings and ceramics of their production. In 2021, they would have been 100 years old. The times of the fight once morest the pandemic have not made it possible to honor them to the height of their notoriety. This exhibition is also an opportunity to pay tribute to them with a presentation taken from the fund of their donation, and some evocations of their life as a couple since the Liberation of Paris following the Second World War, which saw the landing of the American Peter Orlando.

The exhibition will be open on the Place de l’Eglise in Saint-Jean-Lespinasse, from Saturday April 23 to Sunday May 8, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. FREE ENTRANCE ; information: Tel. 05 65 38 74 33.
