The Saint-Gobain Football Cup, French Cup for Engineering and Business schools, is back in November with a unique launch evening in the Saint-Gobain Tower in La Défense organized on Friday November 17, 2023. The 2023 edition- 24 of this official university competition, considered the largest sporting event for recruiting young talents, will bring together a total of 91 schools, 126 teams and more than 2,200 students across France, culminating in a final in the legendary grounds of the Clairefontaine National Football Center.
Set foot on the pitch of the temple of French football in Clairefontaine and play for a weekend in conditions worthy of the greatest professional players? A dream shared by more than 2,200 students who will compete in the qualifying phases in November, then in March the play-offs for the Final6 of the Saint-Gobain Football Cup in Clairefontaine.
The two accession play-offs will take place on March 9 in Chasse-sur-Rhône for the southern conference and on March 23 at the Complexe Omnisports Universitaire de Paris-Saclay for the northern conference. During these two events, 20 teams (10 women’s and 10 men’s) will try to obtain qualifications for the Final6 of the 4 French Cups of Engineering Schools (ING) and Higher Business Schools (ESC). At the end of these two play-offs, 5 schools qualified by Coupe de France (ESC Women – ESC Men – ING Women – ING Men) will join the 19 2023 national winners, already qualified. There are therefore 24 teams in total who will compete for the title of the Coupes de France in the prestigious enclosure of the National Football Center in Clairefontaine from May 3 to 5.
As for the women’s teams, the 2023 winners already qualified for the Final6 are INSA Lyon for engineering schools and EDHEC Lille for business schools. For men, it is INSA Lyon for the ING schools and Grenoble EM for the ESC schools.
The Coupe de France Saint-Gobain des Grandes Écoles is an official University Sport competition, included in the calendar of national student competitions. The French University Sports Federation (FFSU) aims to organize and promote sports competition for students of higher education establishments (Universities and Schools), from regional to international level. This federation currently has more than 120,000 members. The French Cups are organized in collaboration with student sports bodies (Business School Sport Association and Association Sportive des Écoles d’Ingénieurs) in partnership with the French University Sports Federation (FFSportU).
