The Ogooué Mining Company (Comilog) returned in a very beautiful way to the celebration, last weekend (from December 5 to 7), of Saint Barbara’s Day for the happiness of its agents. The related activities and events took place on its installations and on certain sites in the city of Moanda. A program rich in various activities was proposed to allow agents to communicate with each other and with the population of the mining town, as in the past.
The night of martial arts opened the festivities at the workers’ home where the Judo, Karate and Aikido sections of the Ogooué Mining Company presented their techniques and know-how, highlighting the talents of their fighters, youngest to oldest.
Two (2) popular concerts were subsequently organized at the esplanade of the central town hall of Moanda, with the cream of Gabonese artists, in front of a large and enthusiastic audience, visibly won over.
The rest of the activities were essentially sporting and fun, with board games (Scrabble, Poker, Ludo); a treasure hunt organized in the mine; mining machine driving sessions (dumper); football, basketball, tennis and golf tournaments; as well as a cross of 5 and 10 km within the perimeter of the Comilog framework city.
The last day was marked by a gala match between the Comilog Management Committee and the local public administration; as well as the trophy presentations to the winners of the Comilog inter-direction tournament and the inter-city tournament (Moanda, Mounana, Bakoumba), organized for the occasion; before a sumptuous closing evening which fulfilled all its promises, with a full house under the marquee of the Comilog Framework City.
Opportunity for the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Comilog, Jean Hilaire Doudou Lengoma, to return in his speech to the agenda and the highlights of this year 2024, as well as the CSR commitment of a corporate citizen which takes to heart the development of the city and the communities on the sites where it operates.
Originally a religious festival, it was quite natural that a mass of thanksgiving and the blessing of the installations took place in the factories, offices and quarries of the mining company, during this edition of the Sainte Barbe, with the assistance of the Saint Dominic of Moanda Catholic Church. Sainte Barbe had not been organized for five (5) years.
