Marineros FSC and Gladiadores FS ended their participation in the 2024 Clausura Tournament of the Futve Futsal 1 League on Thursday, with the second confrontation between the two on matchday six of the competition, which ended 5-3 in favor of the naval team.
On Wednesday night both teams also met and the professional futsal duel culminated in a victory for the Anaco quintet with a score of 3-2. The two duels took place in the Luis Ramos gym on the Barcelona-Puerto La Cruz axis.
Despite the sweep of the “blue tide”, it was not enough for them to advance to the next round of the championship. It reached 16 points, tied with Tigers, but the Guariqueño club closed with a better goal differential and that is why it won the place in the final home runs.
With six days completed (12 challenges for each team), Group D of the Futve Futsal League ended with Monagas as the leader with 23 units. They are followed by Tigers with 16, like Marineros, and in fourth place La Armadura with eight countable ones.
Balance
Eudo Villalobos, technical director of the nautical team, valued the fact of being able to add 16 points in the tournament in what is a process that is just beginning. It is worth remembering that “the Lord of the Rings” assumed the reins of the team for this Clausura Tournament and it is expected that he can continue for the Apertura 2025.
The same coach indicated that in some parts of the competition his team was guilty of being innocent and some points were lost, so he believes that with the incorporation of four or five elite players they can go further in the next opportunity.
Leyster Cedeño, Gladiators strategist, also highlighted that he has a fairly young squad at his disposal that still needs to be trained to be able to compete at the highest level. Even so, he noted that they were able to play against a great team like Monagas, runner-up in the Apertura Tournament.
An unfavorable point
He noted that not being able to carry out a preseason as he would like is one of the factors why La Armadura has fallen short in the last two semesters.
Cedeño highlighted that they had a positive balance on the road, although he acknowledged that they still have a debt to achieve good performances at home.
In this way, the Anzoátegui state was left without representatives in the final home runs of the 2024 Clausura Tournament of the Futve Futsal 1 League and will have to wait for Apertura 2025 to return to action.

**Interview with Javier Rodriguez, Coach of Marineros FSC**
**Interviewer**: Thank you for joining us, Javier. The recent matches against Gladiadores FS have been quite eventful. How do you feel about the team’s performance in the Futsal Clausura Tournament?
**Javier Rodriguez**: Thank you for having me. I believe our team showed great determination and skill in both matches against Gladiadores. Winning one and then losing the other was bittersweet. It highlighted our strengths but also exposed some areas we need to improve on.
**Interviewer**: Indeed, the competition was tough. In the match that ended 5-3 in favor of Gladiadores, what were some key moments that defined the outcome?
**Javier Rodriguez**: The first half was crucial. We started strong, but a few defensive lapses allowed Gladiadores to capitalize on our mistakes. Their fast counter-attacks caught us off guard. We also struggled with maintaining our composure under pressure, which is something we’ll work on in training.
**Interviewer**: Despite these challenges, Marineros finished with 16 points, tied with Tigers FC. What does that say about the level of competition in Group D?
**Javier Rodriguez**: It speaks volumes. The competition is incredibly tight, and each match is like a final. We were right in the mix, but unfortunately, goal differential played against us this time. It’s a learning experience, and I believe it makes us stronger for future tournaments.
**Interviewer**: Speaking of learning experiences, what are the team’s priorities moving forward after this tournament?
**Javier Rodriguez**: Our primary focus now is on refining our defensive strategy and enhancing our overall teamwork. We also want to build on our attacking play to ensure that we convert chances into goals more consistently. The players are motivated, and I think we’ll come back more resilient.
**Interviewer**: Thank you, Javier. Your insights are invaluable as we look forward to the next season of the Futsal Liga. Best of luck to Marineros FSC in the future!
**Javier Rodriguez**: Thank you! We appreciate the support and can’t wait to show everyone what we can do next season.
