In Barnaul (Altai Territory), the tribunal sentenced the sailor Yevgeny Zelenkov. According to information Telegram channel 2nd Eastern District Military Court, the serviceman was found guilty of evading service during the period of mobilization (part 5 of article 337 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and he was sentenced to nine years in a general regime correctional colony. The verdict did not enter into force.

As indicated in the materials of the investigation, the sailor, without good reason, during the period of mobilization, twice did not arrive on time at his military unit. Each time Yevgeny Zelenkov was absent from the service for more than a month. According to the court, on October 31, 2022, the sailor did not show up for work, but on December 1, law enforcement officers caught him and took him to the military commandant’s office. From December 15, he was once more absent from the unit, until January 31, 2023, he was detained by the police. In March, the sailor appeared before the court.

The military court reported that the decision was made on the basis of a combination of sentences – earlier the sailor had already been convicted for failure to appear for service for two years and one month in prison to be served in a colony-settlement.
