Sailing ship, the Concordia team and a robot to reach the cabins in action –

A helicopter of Fire Brigade divers from Genoa has just landed in Porticello: it is the same team that operated following the sinking of the Costa Concordia, which occurred on January 14, 2012. Since yesterday, attempts have been made to enter the cabins of the wreck of the Bayesian, where it is believed the six missing people from the tragedy that occurred between Sunday and Monday may be located: this morning the divers managed to reach the owner’s cabin, but not yet those of the passengers. While the search operations for the 6 missing have continued without stopping since the early hours of the morning, the underwater investigations conducted by the divers of the Coast Guard Sub Units of Naples and Messina have been strengthened, who are operating “with the aid of an additional remotely controlled underwater vehicle (ROV – Remotely Operated Vehicle), with high-performance characteristics”, the Coast Guard announced.

A trial, the missing tycoon and a mysterious death: the shipwreck turns yellow

The robot is capable of operating on the seabed at a depth of up to 300 meters and has an autonomy of between 6 and 7 hours. The device deployed by the Coast Guard, equipped with advanced technology that allows it to investigate the seabed and record detailed videos and images, aims to provide useful and timely elements to reconstruct the dynamics of the accident for the benefit of the Termini Imerese Prosecutor’s Office. “About five minutes, three to five minutes, from the moment the boat was lifted by the waves of the sea until it sank”. Fabio Genco, head of the 118 operations center, provided first aid to the 15 survivors of the shipwreck of the yacht that sank in front of Porticello. Speaking to the BBC’s Newsnight program, he reported the description of “apocalyptic scenes” while the survivors searched for the missing. He said his main concern was to treat little Sophia who was on board in case she had ingested salt water: “The word that the mother and all the injured kept repeating was ‘darkness'” during the shipwreck, he added.
