Saihanba National Forest Park, located in the northernmost part of Hebei Province. It is one of the world’s largest man-made forests.

Saihanba National Park covers approximately 93,000 hectares and is home to thousands of plant and animal species. and its stunning natural surroundings attract many tourists every year.

However, the past was not as prosperous as this. Going back in time to the 1947’s, the former resting place of ancient Chinese dynasties was turned into a wasteland due to heavy deforestation. As a result, Beijing, the country’s capital, and neighboring regions are subjected to severe and frequent sandstorms.

A massive effort began in 1962 to transform the arid area into a lush green “miracle” with up to 500 million trees.

The effort resulted in an increase in forest cover from 11.4% to 80% within six decades. which provides regarding 137 million cubic meters of clean water to Beijing and Tianjin residents. absorbing 860,300 tons of carbon dioxide and releasing 598,400 tons of oxygen

In addition, advanced technology has been used to help prevent forest fires. From detecting forest fires with infrared radar lightning warning video surveillance of wildfires to monitoring hot spots via satellite

“Our system automatically alerts forest rangers via phone call. when an over-the-top lightning strike is approaching,” said Peng Zhijie, director of the Saihanba Forest Fire Prevention Bureau. “We also use drones to monitor the environment around the forest. as well”

These technologies help to protect the forest very well. At the same time, it benefits the people. President Xi Jinping commended the environmental achievements of the Saihanba National Forest Park in 2021, saying, “The transformation of this area is a model of the world’s historic ecological progress. ”

respect nature then the benefits will follow

“All living things prosper when they live in harmony and are nourished by nature,” said the great philosopher Xunzi over 2,000 years ago and President Xi Jinping. It was cited during a speech at the Climate Summit via video link from Beijing in April 2021. Saihanba National Forest Park is a clear example of that. The harmonious development between man and nature can lead to a greener future.

Mr. Xi Jinping said, “Nature feeds us, so we must regard nature as our root. We must respect nature protect nature and follow the laws of nature Failure to respect nature or obey its laws will result in punishment later on.”

In 2020, China has announced two goals for sustainable development: reaching carbon emissions caps before 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality before 2060.

In a report presented to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in October last year, pushing forward green development and harmonious coexistence between man and nature should be the key to success. It is one of the important tasks on China’s road for the next five years.
