Saha: Surprised by Rooney’s comments on Ronaldo… targeting him is wrong

Former Manchester United star Louis Saha thinks Wayne Rooney was wrong when he suggested he sell the club Cristiano Ronaldo.

Rooney was asked by Sky Sports presenter Dave Jones if Ronaldo’s emotional return to Old Trafford had worked out as planned, and he replied resoundingly: “I’d say no for now.”

“But I think if you look at the future of the club, you will have to go with younger, hungry players to do everything they can to raise the bar,” he added. Manchester United over the next two or three years.”

But Saha, who spent one season at Old Trafford with Ronaldo in 2008, believes the squad should be built around the 37-year-old rather than without him.

And regarding Rooney’s comments, the Frenchman told BoyleSports EPL: “I don’t understand, I’m a little surprised.”

He continued, “Targeting Cristiano Ronaldo and saying we need to move forward is wrong. Why don’t we build young players around Cristiano? Let them learn and improve around him.”

و .صر Saha“If these players can’t improve and grow, they’re not good enough, I don’t agree at all and I think Cristiano made huge sacrifices, and despite the criticism he did a good job, the team didn’t play well and I don’t like targeting Cristiano.”

Following Rooney’s comments, Ronaldo appeared to be responding to his ex-teammate, commenting on Instagram in response to a photo Rooney posted ‘Georan’ alongside an eyes emoji.

It is possible that Ronaldo’s comment might simply be mocking his friend, to which Rooney later replied: “There is no player in the world who is not jealous of you except for Messi.”.

Ronaldo scored 18 goals in 32 matches for United in all competitions.
