Safe Haven in the Storm: Budapest Emerges as Unlikely Refuge for Stranded Emirates Flights

Emirates flight EK 112 Budapest-Dubai turned back from the Turkish-Iranian border and later landed in Istanbul, then continued its journey 2 hours and 20 minutes later.

According to Budapest Airport, due to the conflict in the Middle East, three Emirates flights have turned back over Turkey and will land in Budapest. The planes left for Dubai from Dublin, Düsseldorf and Prague, and there were a total of 1,215 passengers on board the three planes.

Two of the flights were operated by a Boeing 777-300ER, and one, the Düsseldorf flight, was operated by an Airbus A380-800. The Emirates Nice-Dubai Airbus A380-800 also landed in Budapest instead of the previously planned Vienna.

Between 11:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, the four flights continued their journey to Dubai after taking on the necessary fuel, avoiding the airspace affected by the conflict through the airspace of Egypt and Saudi Arabia instead of the usual route.
