The ferocity of the inferno ravaged 543 buildings across 11 RTs (neighborhood units), displacing 607 families and affecting a staggering 1,797 individuals.”Provisional data: 11 RTs affected by RT.01 to RT.011, 543 buildings,” stated the Jakarta BPBD.

It all burned down. Over there was the junk warehouse, over here my father had the ACs, washing machine, refrigerator…”

Adel and his family were fortunate to escape unharmed.”My sister was still awake,” he explained, “Then the neighbors were screaming too. We went out. If we wanted to save things, we could still, but we were just confused. It was like the fire was realy close.There were five of us in the house – mother, father, and my sister.”

The fire consumed everything in its path, leaving Adel and his family with nothing but the clothes on their backs. His pain was palpable as he spoke about losing his father’s two motorbikes, a Vega and a Vario. “I didn’t have time to save any of the goods,” he lamented, “Mostly just the securities.”
