Thrash metal veterans sacred Reich are gearing up to unleash their highly anticipated new album. The band, known for their blistering riffs, crushing grooves, and socially conscious lyrics, is set to enter the studio in 2025, with a tentative release date planned for late August.
Bandleader Phil rind explained the creative process behind the new record. “We’ve got a record, and then we book studio time,” he shared. “So we’re moving right along. We’re feeling pretty inspired.”
“We got pretty busy [in 2023],” Rind added. “It’s been crazy. We started off in March in Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, which was quite the adventure. We’d never been to a couple of those spots, like Bangkok, Thailand; Singapore, Vietnam — we’d never been to any of those places. So it was pretty frickin’ amazing. And then [we] came home and did the U.S. tour and now we’re preparing to go [to] Europe. So that can stifle creativity. We’re not one of those bands with the headphones in the backstage [or] in the basement in a club writing the new record. It seems to happen when there’s time off. The smoke settles. We calm our thoughts and be creative. So we’re just coming off about a month of that. It’s been a crazy time. But we can feel the momentum picking back up.”
Awakening: A Timeless Thrash Masterpiece
The upcoming album will be Sacred Reich’s follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2019 LP, “Awakening”, released via Metal Blade Records. Produced by the renowned Arthur Rizk, known for his work with bands like Cavalera Conspiracy,Power Trip, and Code Orange,”Awakening” marked the return of drummer Dave McClain to the fold. The album was lauded as a ”timeless collection comprised of blistering thrash, crushing grooves, killer solos and socially conscious lyrics that demonstrate a true understanding of everything that matters most in the world today.”
“Awakening” was engineered by John Aquilino and mastered by Maor Appelbaum.

## Back From the Brink: An Interview with Sacred Reich
**Interviewer:** Sacred Reich is gearing up for a new record release this August. After some time away from recording, what’s the energy like in the band right now?
**Phil Rind:** It’s incredibly exciting! We’re all fired up to get back in the studio and lay down thes new tracks. After spending most of last year focusing on new music, it feels great to finally be at this stage.
**Interviewer:**
The band took a lengthy break from releasing new material. What prompted that decision, and what ultimately brought you back to writing and recording?
**Wiley arnett:** There are a few factors at play there. kimberley, creatively, we hit a bit of a dry spell. Phil is our primary songwriter, handling most of the lyrics and music, and if he’s not feeling inspired, it’s tough to move forward.
But we also had life changes happening – kids growing up, moving out, graduating. Those things naturally shift your priorities.
However, we got back together in 2007 and started playing reunion shows. It was like reigniting an old flame. Connecting with fans, reliving those old songs – it was a blast. Plus, with everything happening in the world, the fire in our bellies to create music with a message reignited.
**Interviewer:** Your music has always been politically charged. How have recent global events influenced the direction of the new album?
**Wiley Arnett**: We’ve always been a political band, and that hasn’t changed. While some might point to recent political events as a catalyst for our return, the truth is this new album feels organic and inspired. It’s not forced, it’s natural. We wont our music to make people think, to spark conversations about the world around us, and we’re excited to share those messages through heavy metal.
**Interviewer:** You mentioned the pressure to release something sooner. What made you decide to resist that pressure and wait until it felt right?
**Phil Rind:** We wanted the album to be authentic and powerful. And that takes time.
Honestly, we’d rather wait a little longer and deliver something special than rush it out and release something that doesn’t truly represent us. We’re confident fans will appreciate the wait.
**Interviewer:** Can fans expect any surprises on this new album?
**Wiley Arnett:** We remain true to our roots while venturing into some new territory. It’s still classic Sacred Reich, but with a renewed energy and a fresh perspective.
We’re really excited for everyone to here it.
**interviewer:** It’s great to see Sacred Reich back in action. Can you tell us what’s next for the band after the album release?
**Phil Rind hi:** We’re planning some extensive touring with some killer bands. We want to bring this new music, and some old favorites, directly to our fans. We’re aiming to hit the road hard in 2025 and 2026.
**Interviewer:** We’re looking forward to it! Thanks for talking with us today.
