Sabine Kloos is moving from the book trade to the oil industry. The marketing expert announced this on Wednesday evening at her LinkedIn Profile Kloos has been head of marketing at the Thalia bookstore chain since May 2023. She is now taking over as head of marketing at Aral Germany.
“Occasionally an unexpected opportunity comes along and calls for an unexpected step,” she writes on LinkedIn. And she continues: “I am excited (…) to be part of their transformation journey towards net zero as Marketing Lead for Aral in Germany.”
Aral is the largest petrol station operator in Germany
As the company confirmed to absatzwirtschaft on Thursday, Kloos will take up her new position on October 1. She will be responsible for the entire brand presence of the largest petrol station provider in Germany with around 2,400 Aral petrol stations.
It is not the first new industry in which the business graduate and experienced marketer has had to find her way. Kloos started her career at Mars in 1991. This was followed by positions in the food, beverage and confectionery sectors at Bahlsen, Kraft Foods and Coca-Cola. In 2012 she became Marketing Director at the pizza chain Vapiano. From 2015 to 2020, Kloos was responsible for brand communications at Telefónica Deutschland and from 2020 to 2023 at the Norwegian telephone company Telenor, before finally moving to the bookstore chain Thalia.
