Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Khaled, son of Saad Al-Jabri, the former Saudi security advisor, commented on the name of the late Saudi journalist, Jamal Khashoggi, on a street bordering the Saudi Embassy building in the American capital, Washington.
The naming of the Saudi Embassy Street in Washington, DC, following #Khashoggi_Street, goes beyond mere memorial symbolism. It is a reminder to his pariah killer that the US capital is home to a growing movement that has the potential to influence politicians and legislators of both parties, decision-making circles, think tanks, and the media, in the short and long term. https://t.co/2Pf1OLzjNb https://t.co/pPTGT6DXmw
Khaled Al-Jabri said in a tweet: “The naming of the street of the Saudi embassy in Washington following Khashoggi Street is more than a memorial symbol… It is a reminder to his outcast killer that the American capital embraces a growing movement that has the ability to influence politicians and legislators from both parties, decision-making circles, research centers and the media. in the short and long term.”
CNN in Arabic contacted the Saudi embassy in Washington for comment, without a response at the time of writing this report.
The “DAWN” Foundation, which was founded by the late Saudi journalist, Jamal Khashoggi, in 2018, had announced its name on the street that borders the Saudi embassy in Washington, in the presence of a number of American political figures and those close to Khashoggi, who sent direct and indirect messages to US President Joe Biden before his visit to Saudi Arabia next July.
It is noteworthy that the Biden administration had announced that it was ready to move beyond the issue of Khashoggi’s murder before the US President’s visit to Saudi Arabia next month, where he will meet with the Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman.
