S-Link becomes Salzburg’s billion dollar grave

WIRS is decided once morest this recent tax money swamp S-Link.

Salzburg (OTS) The current state government ÖVP, Greens and NEOS under Governor Haslauer is planning the next billion grave with the sounding name S-Link.

Although foreseeable in advance, this tunnel solution will not relieve individual traffic around the city of Salzburg.

Nevertheless, you hold on to it staunchly, WIRS chairman Dr. Gerhard Pöttler amazed. Obviously, as with the senseless Corona measures of the past three years, there are other economic interests behind this senseless S-Link project.

The “Regional-Stadt-Bahn” project, which was developed with a lot of tax money, is simply pigeonholed. This above-ground solution would actually bring a noticeable relief, because not only the city of Salzburg was considered, but beyond. This traffic solution would even reach into the Bavarian region. Many communities have also contributed financially, also in the neighboring Bavarian region.

In terms of costs, the regional city railway would be many times cheaper, and the construction phase would be much easier to manage in terms of transport. There are already many findings in other major cities that tunnel construction solutions have bankrupted the surface businesses in the affected area. Usually no one cares regarding their fate! Unless you belong to the circle of friends of the ruling politiciansadds WIRS Deputy Chairman Engelbert Neubauer.

An objection of a considerable loss of income due to the construction measures by a well-known Salzburg hotelier was promptly answered by the responsible provincial councilor Schnöll in such a way that there was already enough tax money to compensate for this economic loss.

We say:

Back to the start and an honest examination of the alternative solution Regional-Stadt-Bahn. To this end, we will initiate a referendum.
