As the Kino pavasaris festival announced on Tuesday, the film will compete for the European Discovery Award, awarded by the FIPRESCI association, which unites international film critics.
The European Discovery – FIPRESCI Award is one of the main prizes of the European Film Awards, it is awarded to the directors who created the first feature length film.
The nominees for this award were chosen by the European Film Academy and the international association of film critics FIPRESCI from all European debut films made this year, this year six films will compete for the best European debut.
“More than two thousand films are made in Europe every year, so just getting into such a selection is a great honor, achievement and success. And to be in the final award nominations together with the best European debuts is absolutely incredible,” S. Bliuvaitė is quoted as saying in the report.
In August, “Akipläpa” won the main prize of the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland – the “Golden Leopard”.
The European Film Awards ceremony will take place on December 7 in the Swiss city of Lucerne.
In Lithuania, the premiere of S. Bliuvaitė’s film is scheduled for the spring of next year.
