Ryzen 7 5800X3D “gaming” test, the Core i9-12900KS is unable to keep up!?

A first independent gaming test of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is published. Unfortunately we only have one game and one definition.

XanxoGaming has just put online a first gaming benchmark with the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. This new showcase chip from AMD was paired with a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Founders Edition and compared to Intel’s Core i9-12900KS and Core i9-12900K.

As we have underlined it is unfortunately only one game which does not allow to draw conclusions. The title used is Shadow of the Tomb Raider at 720p resolution with graphics options on low. On the other hand, beware, the Core i9 platforms have been associated with a GeForce RTX 3090 Ti and DDR5 memory calibrated at 4800 MHz CAS 40. For its part, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D uses 2 x 8 GB of DDR4 at 3200 MHz CAS 14.

We have an average of 190 fps with the Core i9-12900K against 200 fps with Core i9-12900KS, a little over 5% improvement. These numbers are taken from the CapFrameX utility.

Processor Average FPS Index
Ryzen 7 5800X3D 231 121.58%
Core i9-12900KS 200 105.26%
Core i9-12900K/KF 190 100%

For its part, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D achieves an impressive 231 fps. We are over 20% ahead of the Core i9-12900K and over 15% against the Core i9-12900KS.

It is explained

“Due to the low definition used, the GPU doesn’t really matter and although it’s not an apples to apples comparison, it’s very close. »
