Ryder Cup U.S. team leader LIV golf player will not be able to compete in the Ryder Cup

Ryder Cup US team leader Jack Johnson (USA), who will be playing in Italy next year, said that players who joined LIV Golf might not participate in the Ryder Cup.

At a press conference on the 29th (Korean time) ahead of the opening of the John Deere Classic on the PGA Tour, Johnson said, “To play in the Ryder Cup, you have to collect starting points.

In order to collect starting points, you have to play in a PGA Tour event as a member of the PGA Tour.”

This means that players who joined LIV Golf lost their PGA Tour membership and might not compete in the tournament, so their way to the Ryder Cup was blocked.

Top players who left the PGA Tour and went to LIV Golf are still hoping to participate in the Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup.

Dustin Johnson and Kevin Na (USA) announced their hopes to participate in the Ryder Cup, saying “the rules will change” while announcing joining LIV Golf.

Johnson said he respects the choices of his fellow players who have moved to LIV Golf and wants them to respect his position as well.

“Personally, I hope they do well.

“I want you to be happy and content,” Johnson said. “I’m on the PGA Tour side.

“I hope the PGA Tour will be a better place for everyone, not just my family.”

Johnson also said, “When the situation calms down, the PGA Tour will get stronger and better.” said

The 46-year-old has won 12 on the PGA Tour and has won two majors, including the 2007 Masters and the 2015 The Open.
