Twenty-eight Ryanair flights will be canceled on Saturday July 29 at Charleroi airport, on departure and arrival, due to a strike by the Irish company’s pilots. Platja d’Aro, an idyllic view and the dream location for Edouard and his family. But no luck this summer, their holidays coincide exactly with the strikes.
“We arrived on July 18, we lost three days of vacation. For the return, we had to come back on July 29. We received an email during the night saying that the return flight was also canceled. Notifying you by email less than 48 hours in advance, it’s a bit light, I think”accuse Edouard.
The first flight is for Monday. Too late, the apartment is no longer available. The family had to look for a solution. “It took us a morning to turn around. We had to look for flights, cancel shuttles, find others”, says Elodie.
Their solution: no longer leave from Girona to Charleroi but from Barcelona to arrive in Luxembourg. A nifty option, but the extra costs add up. More than 500€ euros in transport and as much in lost rental. “The problems with Ryanair pilots don’t concern me. It’s an internal Ryanair problem. Not sleeping through the night wondering if the flight is cancelled… We would do well without this type of hassle on vacation “, breathes Edouard. Canceled flights will be reimbursed but for the shuttles, the family has few illusions.
