Ryan Pressly has become a security for the Houston Astros in the ninth episode. The closer will now be in charge of putting the lock on the commitments with the United States team in the World Classic.
The pitcher knows that in the second round he can run into teams that have teammates, such as Venezuela with José Altuve or the Dominican Republic with Jeremy Peña.
“I think I would like to face Altuve once more, it would be a lot of fun,” said the pitcher, in the middle of the meeting with the press of the 2023 Astros team.
The pitcher also talked regarding new faces in the franchise, such as José Abreu, who arrived as a free agent following an excellent career with the Chicago White Sox.
“He’s a very good hitter,” closer Ryan Pressly said of Abreu. “He has power to every wing and I have a feeling he’s going to hit a lot of home runs in this ballpark. It’s fun to watch him play, and it’s wonderful to have him on our side.”
The United States will be led by Mark DeRosa, a strategist who has put together a truly competitive team to fight for the title in this campaign’s edition of the tournament of nations.
