Commenting on the prospects for negotiations on Ukraine after the US elections, Ryabkov said to RIA Novosti that the US domestic political calendar has no value, and the Americans must change their behavior.
“This question is not directed to us. I don’t think the American political assessment has any value. They should worry about their behavior, assess what is happening realistically, heed our warnings, including the risks associated with continued escalation, and rein in all their followers, especially in Kiev,” the deputy minister added, speaking on the sidelines of the Eurasian Women’s Forum.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Kyiv’s allies believe that the right time to reach agreements on Ukraine may be between the US presidential election and the inauguration.
Ryabkov indicated that there is no intention to hold a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his American counterpart Antony Blinken on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. He said: “No, of course, we have nothing to talk about with him.”
On Tuesday, the 79th annual session of the United Nations General Assembly began. The main event, the High-Level Week, will take place from September 24 to 28. On September 30, the annual debates will be held, and the Russian delegation will be headed by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who is expected to deliver his speech on September 28.
