RV show: buy or dream?

Despite inflation and rising gas prices, the craze for recreational vehicles is not waning. People were there at the Salon du VR taking place at the Palais des Congrès in Montreal.

“It’s for a few years. We just watch for fun. We are planning more for big trips, so we will adjust our travel budget.

“It’s a bit of a lifelong dream. You only live once.”

“We want to travel light, we haven’t found anything yet.”

“We are not thinking of buying today.”

Hundreds of recreational vehicles under one roof attract a lot of people. But you have to be ready to pay the price to adopt this lifestyle. These vehicles can cost up to $800,000.

According to the Quebec Motor Vehicle Dealers Association, despite the lifting of travel restrictions and the economic downturn, RV sales have grown since the pandemic.

“It goes well. People retained a bit of fear. The health crisis has caused people to be on the guard when they find themselves in the possessions of others. In your RV, the amenities are yours, your room is yours. In short, you are always at home. The mechanics have also been redefined for a low consumption rate”, explains Sylvain Gauthier, president of the ACVRQ.

The rise in the cost of living does not seem to put off those who dream of spending the winter in the sun.
