This morning, October 7, the enemy tried to strike with three high-speed Kh-47M2 “Kynzhal” missiles, which were launched from the MiG-31K, which took off from the airfield “Savasleika”, but the launch was carried out from the Tambov region.
Two of them were shot down in the Kyiv region, and one missile hit the Starokostyantiny airfield in the Khmelnytskyi region. And everything points to the fact that the target of all three missiles was the Ukrainian air base. But two of the three “Daggers” were shot down over Kyiv, because their wreckage fell in several districts of the capital, as reported by the local authorities.

The fact is that apparently the enemy really launches these rockets so that they fly over the capital, because of which the people of Kyiv hear the sound wave from them, or, as in today’s case, also the work of air defense.
If you build the possible variants of the rectilinear trajectory of the “Dagger” flight from the borders of the Tambov region to Starokostyantynov, then all of them will be in the sector that one way or another passes through Kyiv or its surroundings.

And this means that enemy missiles may well fly within the operating zone of air defense systems that cover the capital and may have anti-missile capabilities. After all, from time to time the military themselves even officially talk about the work of the Patriot near Kyiv to intercept the Kh-47 “Kinzhal” and other “ballistics”.
But in this case, we are not talking about shooting down the “hypersonic” X-47M2 “Dagger” when it attacks the target, but about its successful interception on the marching part of the flight. And the difference between these two options is huge. Because when the “Dagger” already falls on the target, its speed is far from hypersonic. At the same time, on the march section, it should exceed Mach 5, or still be more than significant.
Moreover, it seems that the Russian “Dagger”, if you believe the declarations of the Rashists, has the ability to maneuver along the entire flight path. This is necessary precisely for the purpose of bypassing even potential areas of anti-missile defense.
But in reality, the speed of the “Dagger” even on the march section is not a problem for an exclusively conventional Patriot. And despite the alleged possibility of maneuvering, the enemy stubbornly lays out their route in the Kyiv area. At the same time, this is not the first time when the X-47M2 “Kinzhal” has been shot down “on the fly” in the area of the capital, but it is certainly one of the first when the details of the interception have been officially announced. And of course, the Russian Federation knows this very well, but they continue to launch “Daggers” in this way.
Note that one possible explanation for this is that to launch this missile, it is necessary to bring the MiG-31K to the launch area with the required altitude, speed and course quite precisely. Defense Express made such an assumption in the story about where the X-47 “Dagger” appeared in the Russian Federation in general and from which Soviet developments it grew. And for such an accurate removal of the carrier, it is necessary to either keep an aerial command and measurement station of the IL-976 SKIP type in the sky, or to deploy the corresponding ground infrastructure on the ground, which is cheaper.
In any case, if it is really possible to shoot down the Kh-47M2 “Kinzhal” Patriot on the marching area, then this completely nullifies the whole point of developing this missile. Moreover, in the fantasies of Russian propagandists, it could not be intercepted not only by the existing, but even promising means of anti-missile defense.
