Russia is keen on revenge for Western sanctions, and the energy sector, in particular, seems to be in the firing line: today, the country even wants to seize the assets of foreign companies if it suits it.
Why is this important?
Western sanctions hurt Russia. For now, it can continue to artificially fuel its own economy, or at least give the impression of it. More and more Western companies are ceasing their activities in Russia or ending their business relations with Russian companies. Russia therefore wants to replace the defunct companies with its own companies and use the remaining Western assets for this purpose.In the news : A new law should call Western companies in the energy sector to order.
