Moscow: Russia has announced that it will intervene to solve the problem between Israel and Hamas. Russia has informed that it is communicating with Israel and Palestine in this regard. Although the conflict, which began with Hamas’s surprise attack on Israel this past Saturday morning, has entered its fourth day, there has yet to be an overt attempt to mediate on the part of Russia. At the same time, she repeatedly reminded Russia of its strong ties with Israel and Palestine.

Russia has a long historical relationship with Palestine. At the same time, Russia points to some general similarities with Israel. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov pointed out that many Israelis are former Russian citizens.

“We are continuing to communicate with both factions during the conflict. The effort is to find common platforms where problem solving is possible while maintaining this relationship. Unfortunately, as it turns out, it is not very effective. Although there are many challenges, we are trying to overcome all of them and do everything we can to solve the problem” – Peskov explained.

The spokesman responded that Russia is concerned that this conflict between Israel and Hamas may grow to the level of breaking the peace atmosphere in the Middle East. He also stated that they are checking whether there are Russians among those who were taken hostage by Hamas following attacking Israel.

At the same time, Russia rejected Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s accusation that Russia wants peace in the Middle East. Zelensky’s criticism was that the Russian position is to exacerbate the conflict in the Middle East in order to weaken international unity as much as possible.
