Russia’s response to the attack on the Kremlin using drones must be proportionate, said Konstantin Gavrilov, head of the Russian delegation at the talks in Vienna on military security and arms control. He is confident that Moscow’s reaction will follow.
Mr. Gavrilov agreed with the opinion of the speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin that “the answer should be so thought out and verified that those who did this would no longer want to repeat such actions, and Kiev and its curators would not arise.” “The response should be proportionate, but in such a way that everyone feels it,” Mr. Gavrilov told Rossiya-24 (quoted from TASS).
The diplomat also called inappropriate the call for the use of nuclear weapons. He noted that this issue is regulated by military doctrine.
On May 3, Russian authorities reported an attack on the Kremlin using two drones. At the time of the strike, Vladimir Putin was not at the residence. According to press secretary Dmitry Peskov, “literally two copper sheets that cover the dome” of the Senate Palace were scorched and replaced. Moscow blamed Kyiv for the incident. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denied the allegations.
