Russia’s border regions and Crimea suffered from new airstrikes

The attacks came a day following Kyiv was hit by a massive bombardment and as both sides stepped up their air assaults.

“The situation in Belgorod continues to be tense. There were two attacks in the morning,” said Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.

Russian air defenses reported destroying six missiles over the region, which has been repeatedly targeted during the war. The day before, one person was killed and 11 were injured, said V. Gladkov.

In the Kursk region north of Belgorod, the airstrike damaged infrastructure and cut off electricity, the region’s governor, Roman Starovoitas, told Telegram.

Another missile was shot down near Sevastopol, on the Crimean peninsula annexed by Russia in 2014, the city’s governor said. However, no damage has been reported.

Russia’s regions bordering Ukraine have been subject to regular strikes since the start of the full-scale war.

On Friday, more than 30 people were killed in a mass bombing in Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv.

Over the weekend, retaliatory attacks in Belgorod killed 25 people, the highest number since the Russian offensive began almost two years ago.

On Tuesday morning, Russia launched 99 missiles into Ukraine, killing five people, Kyiv reported.
