Russia is accelerating its advance in eastern Ukraine with guided bombs and carrying out long-distance air strikes on major cities.
Ukraine is in a situation where it is repeatedly requesting additional support amid delays in military support from the West, including the United States.
Citing a Ukrainian government report, the British Guardian reported that Russia is attacking eastern Ukraine using more than 500 guided bombs a week.
A Ukrainian government report said a guided bomb fired from a distance by an aircraft “played a key role in the destruction of the eastern city of Audijivka and its capture by Russia.”
Russia took control of Audijivka, a key city in Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region, in February.
The guided bombs used by Russia are high-performance explosives and pellet-type bombs equipped with guidance systems and wings, and have a range of regarding 40 to 60 km.
The Russian military is advancing using guided bombs on the eastern front while continuing large-scale airstrikes once morest major Ukrainian cities, including the capital Kiev and the second city Kharkiv.
Russia carried out large-scale airstrikes on key energy facilities in Ukraine, destroying a large thermal power plant near Kiev and putting 200,000 residents in Kharkiv, the second-largest city in the northeast, at risk of power outages.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on social media X on the 11th local time that Russia attacked all of Ukraine, including Kharkiv, overnight with more than 40 missiles and 40 drones.
It added that infrastructure facilities in the capital Kiiu, southern Zaporizhia and Odessa, and western Lviv were also attacked.
Regarding this attack, President Zelenskyy said, “Some missiles and Shahed drones were successfully shot down, but only a few,” and urged Western countries to “not turn a blind eye and provide more air defense systems.”
Last February, the U.S. Senate passed a “security package budget” worth a total of $95 billion, or regarding 128 trillion won, including $60.1 billion related to support for Ukraine.
However, the budget plan is drifting as House Republican leaders, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, are reluctant to provide additional support to Ukraine, demanding that border security budget be secured first to prevent illegal immigration.
