Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported: “I have received preliminary reports of a Russian strike on Poltava. According to the information we have now, two ballistic missiles. They hit the territory of an educational institution and a nearby hospital. One of the buildings of the Institute of Communications was partially destroyed. People were under the rubble. Many were rescued. More than 180 people were injured. Unfortunately, many have died. As of now, 41 people are known to have died.”

“My condolences to all the relatives and friends. I have ordered a full and prompt investigation of all the circumstances of the incident. All necessary services have been involved in the rescue operation. I am grateful to each and every one who has been helping people and saving lives since the first minutes after the attack. The Russian bastard will definitely answer for this attack. And we are telling everyone in the world who has the power to stop this terror again and again: air defense systems and missiles for them are needed in Ukraine, and not somewhere in a warehouse. Long-range strikes that can protect against Russian terror are needed now, and not sometime later. Every day of delay is, unfortunately, loss of life. Eternal memory to all whose lives were taken by Russia!” the president said.
