Update from January 17th, 10:10 a.m.: The Ukrainian army says it repelled 19 of 20 Russian attack drones during the night. Russia has launched 20 Iranian-made drones from the Russian region of Primorsko-Akhtarsk once morest Ukraine, the Ukrainian Air Force said in online services. Two S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles were also fired from the Russian border region of Belgorod near Kharkiv.
The Ukrainian armed forces, for their part, deployed guided missiles and mobile air defense units in southern regions, including in Dnipro. According to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, the regions of Kherson in the south, Dnipro in the center and Sumy in the north were attacked by the Russian army during the night, but “fortunately there were no casualties.”

Update from January 17th, 8:15 a.m.: The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has revealed new details regarding Russia’s losses in the Ukraine War. According to this, around 372,820 Russian soldiers have been seriously wounded or killed since hostilities began, 730 of them in the last 24 hours. Ukraine war: Russia attacks the port city of Odessa
First report from January 17th: Kiev – Russia attacked the Ukrainian port city of Odessa on the Black Sea with attack drones on the night of Wednesday (January 17), according to the regional military administration. The military administration said on Telegram that residential buildings were damaged and at least three people were injured in the attack. A 62-year-old man suffered a shrapnel wound, and two women born in 1955 and 1995 were also wounded. Around 130 civilians also had to be evacuated from damaged apartments, it said. The information might not initially be independently verified.

Ukraine War: Many injured following Russian rocket attack on Kharkiv
At least 17 people were injured in a Russian rocket attack on Kharkiv. “Two women are seriously injured,” said the military governor of the Kharkiv region, Oleh Synjehubov, on his Telegram channel late Tuesday evening. Twelve other people were taken to hospital. Accordingly, two repurposed S-300 anti-aircraft missiles landed in the city center of the city with over a million inhabitants. Mayor Ihor Terekhov complained that the rockets hit a place where there are many residential buildings. The authorities also speak of damage to civil infrastructure.
Ukrainian missiles and drones repelled over Belgorod
Russia claims to have repelled several Ukrainian projectiles over the Belgorod border region on Wednesday night. The Ministry of Defense in Moscow announced on Telegram in the early hours of the morning that there were seven missiles and four drones. This information might not be independently verified either. Initially nothing was known regarding the damage or injuries. On Tuesday night, the Russian Air Force had already repelled several projectiles over Belgorod and the Voronezh region.

Ukraine war: Putin warns Ukraine that its statehood will end
Russian President Vladimir Putin called on Kiev to make territorial concessions on Tuesday. Putin said that no one might force Russia to give up the territories it has conquered so far. “Everyone understands that this is not possible.” The Kremlin chief once once more described Ukraine’s counteroffensive to retake territory as a failure.
Putin accused the Ukrainian armed forces of shelling Russian border regions, such as the Belgorod region, in order to distract from their own failure.
